Individuals can become PedFACTs instructors in one of three ways:

If You You Can Do the Following to Become a PedFACTs Instructor
are a healthcare professional with teaching experience
  • Complete a PedFACTs Provider Course
  • Complete the online PedFACTs Instructor Orientation
qualify for instructor reciprocity (such as professional health educator, state instructor, or an instructor from another nationally recognized training program) because you
  • Have adequate content knowledge of first aid
  • Can demonstrate adequate teaching experience
  • Complete the online PedFACTs Instructor Orientation
are a healthcare professional but lack teaching experience
  • Take a nationally recognized instructor development course, then
  • Complete the PedFACTs Provider Course
  • Complete the online PedFACTs Instructor Orientation

All new PedFACTs instructors must complete the online Instructor Orientation. When you login, you will be required to submit an online application before continuing. The orientation discusses instructor responsibilities, course coordination, student evaluation, and documentation requirements. At the end of the orientation is a 25-question instructor test which you will need to pass with an 80% or higher.

The PedFACTs Instructor Orientation takes about 1 hour to complete. There is no cost associated with the orientation or exam. Instructor candidates may retake the orientation and exam as many times as they like.

The AAP will review the application and test score. Candidates are notified by email of the outcome. Individuals who meet the qualifications and pass the orientation will be issued an electronic instructor verification certificate.

Application for PedFACTs Instructor Status

NOTE: You must use the same username and password for ALL PedFACTs online activities, including the Precourse Work, Application for Instructor Status, and Instructor Online Orientation.

If you do not use the same username and password, your activities will not be tracked and you may be required to complete an activity twice.
