Responsibilities of PedFACTS Instructors
PedFACTS Instructors have many important responsibilities to ensure a quality PedFACTS Course for participants. Instructors should possess the knowledge and skills necessary to teach the course and shall:
- Facilitate Learning-Teach the assigned material in an engaging manner that facilitates the learning process of the participants in the course. Instructors are responsible for ensuring that proper content and skills are covered in all PedFACTS Courses, including having all course materials and equipment available.
- Be Familiar with Material-In order to be effective teachers, instructors must familiarize themselves with the course objectives and course materials.
- Evaluate Participants-In order to receive a PedFACTS Course Completion Card, participants must:
- Successfully complete the First Aid for a Blocked Airway and Rescue Breathing Skill Station.
- Correctly answer 80% of the questions on the PedFACTS Written Knowledge Evaluation.
- Complete the written Course Evaluation Form.
- Communicate with the American Academy of Pediatrics-Prepare and submit participant course rosters of those participants who successfully complete the course. Participant course rosters can be found at PedFACTS Instructors Only. It is recommended that PedFACTS Instructors submit course rosters within 30-days of the completion of the course.
- Keep-Up-To-Date-Stay abreast of PedFACTS Course content, PedFACTS Course materials, and PedFACTS policies and procedures. The PedFACTS web site will assist instructors with this responsibility.
- Coordinate Logistics-Instructors are responsible for coordinating logistical issues, such as teaching materials, equipment, room reservations, course registration, catering, and program promotion.
- Safety-Ensure that safety precautions are followed and that the learning environment is comfortable, safe, and nonthreatening.
